the church, January 20, 1788.
HERITAGE

Our
worship takes on a special reflection of our African
heritage. The Choirs and Dance ministries will feature
music presentations in keeping with this celebration

in which we celebrate and appreciate God's work through
our pastor.
COTTAGE
PRAYER/SPRING REVIVAL
Prayer
meetings throughout the city, preceding the spring revival,
which are held simultaneously in various homes of members
and open to everyone. This event usually takes place
in April.

We
reflect upon how God used the first pastor of this congregation,
who was ordained on May 20, 1775.
WOMEN'S
CONFERENCE......................................Fourth
Saturday in May
Women's
Conference provides speakers and seminar leaders who
will lead discussion dealing with topics vital to the
well being of the women in our community.
WOMENS
DAY.....................................................Fourth
Sunday in May
The
Women of First African Baptist lead the congregation
in worship with a special speaker and music provided
by the Womens Day Mass Choir.
MEN'S
DAY...........................................................Fourth
Sunday in August
The
men of our congregation reaffirm their commitment to
God and their families. The celebration includes guest
speakers and music provided by the Male Chorus.
YOUTH
DAY ........................................................
Second Sunday in September
The
focus is turned toward our youth who lead the congregation
in worship and provide music for the day. This day also
highlights their individual talents and abilities.

time of celebration and reuniting families and acquaintances
who once worshipped with this congregation on a regular
basis.
CANDLE
LIGHT COMMUNION...............................First
Sunday in December
The
last communion service of the year is celebrated with
an elaborate candlelight procession and special Christmas
music.
CHURCH
ANNIVERSARY......................................Second
Sunday in December
The
entire church family comes together to praise and thank
God for bringing our congregation through more than
220 years. Daily the congregation will participate in
week night worship leading up to the Second Sunday when
the celebration will culminate with worship and a fellowship
dinner to be enjoyed by all members, guest and visitors.
